During the course of the camp activities, we seek to achieve the following outcomes:

To educate students about the plants and animals within different ecosystems

To understand the components and factors that affect how ecosystems function

To learn about the ways we affect the surrounding environment

To become informed and involved members of the community

To engage in positive learning and social experience beyond the classroom

And to have fun!

Water Based Activities

The Diving, Snorkelling, Sea Kayaking, Sailing and Stand Up Paddle Boarding experience empowers students with knowledge about the conditions and natural environment in which they are going to experience. Presentations of the unique flora and fauna are linked to the tours so that students can associate them with the environment they encounter when diving, snorkelling or kayaking.

Discover Scuba Diving

Learn the basic theory behind scuba diving in the comfort of a classroom environment. The Bayplay pool then allows students to put their lesson into action by blowing bubbles in shallow water allowing a comfortable transition to the underwater world. Here we introduce the skills necessary to maximise safety and comfort for the amazing dive ahead. It’s time to meet the marine life! Visit the Weedy Sea Dragon Colony or Octopus and Seahorse garden. Students will have the opportunity to spot rare and beautiful Sea Dragons, Stingrays, Porcupine Fish, swim through sponge gardens, and discover our gorgeous local marine ecosystem!

Snorkelling

Our Sea Dragon snorkel tours are a great way to educate students on local marine ecosystems and the human impacts on these ecosystems. Explore the wonders of our Sea Dragon Colony and see some of the most amazing soft corals, sponge life and marine organisms in the world.

Sea Kayak / Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Tours begin with a briefing covering terminology, equipment use, skills and safety procedures. Our experienced guides also educate you on the marine life and points of interest likely to be encountered.  

Coastline Tours

Your guide will lead you via the picturesque hilltop mansions, paddle past timeless sailing boats and marinas, serene bays and inlets, often spotting seals, and dolphins, as they play around the boats!  This tour also provides students with insights on the local aboriginal history, native flora and fauna, and Port Phillip Bay’s early settlement!  

Yarra River Tours

Sea Kayaks are the perfect way to see the city differently! Our Yarra River Tour runs downriver and begins at the front of the Rowing Boat Sheds to the east of Princes Bridge.  Following our safety briefing, we will paddle past Southgate’s thriving restaurant and cafe precinct and discover the path of the early pioneers as we explore the Docklands precinct. The tour then takes us under the Westgate Bridge where you will understand the enormity of the construction before stopping off for refreshments at Docklands. We then return to our starting point.  Students will enjoy paddling past skyscrapers and under all the bridges they normally drive on! Our Guide will chat with the students about local history, environmental issue, architecture, arts, flora and fauna.

Land Based Education

Bike Ride @ Point Nepean

Students will be taken along beautiful coastal tracks through Point Nepean National Park, learning about our local flora and fauna, discovering beautiful viewpoints and getting insights in the local aboriginal history!

Guided Walks

details
With various locations to choose from including Greens Bush, Bushrangers Bay or Cape Schanck to name a few– Our guide will chat with the students about the local Flora and Fauna, changing landscapes and local history.

Rock Pool Ramble

details
We explore the local rock pools covering information on marine life, tides, tidal zones & human impacts. We can also incorporate a swim in the rock pools if (only when safe conditions permit).

Team Building Initiative Games

details
Team building games are set up to develop relationships within groups.  The activities engage students in adventure activities focusing on the importance of working together and using skills such as planning, analysing, organising and communicating. The program will comprise of a series of challenging activities, including co-operative games, trust exercises, and group problem-solving activities. Students will spend time negotiating and discussing issues all whilst learning through experience and having fun.
